TYPE LOCALITY: India .

DISTRIBUTION: Sri Lanka; India to S. China and Hainan IsL, and Malay Peninsula; Taiwan; Java; Kangean IsL; Sumbawa; Bali. Introduced to Madagascar.

COMMENT: V. malaccensis is invalid; see Pocock, 1933, J. Bombay Nat. Hist. Soc., 36:629. Scattered distribution on many S. E. Asian Isis, due to frequent introductions (WCW).
