Type specimen studied. Holotype by monotypy (female, NMPC): “ Costa Rica [h, no precise data] // Typus [p, red] // Agrilaxia costaricensis m. Type [h] Det. D r. Obenberger [p]”.

Note. Some specimens (male and female in USNM [ Cobos, 1972] and a female mentioned here (La Caja) were collected on Polygonum sp. ( Polygonaceae ) but this plant is unlikely to be a host plant.

Distribution. Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama (new country record), Venezuela.
