Comments: Strickland (1953) placed Podisus crocatus Uhler as a junior synonym of this species (confirmed by Thomas 1992); yet, Froeschner (1988) listed both species (in the genus Apateticus ) as valid. Froeschner (1988) further indicated that the record from New Mexico needed verification (he listed New Mexico with a question mark). Bundy (2012) did not list any new records from New Mexico, but Phillips (1983), in her unpublished dissertation, listed this species from a couple of New Mexico localities. Among other records, she listed localities that confirm the records from Saskatchewan, Maine, Montana, North Dakota, and New Hampshire; she also listed this species from Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, and Wisconsin, which would represent new state records.
