Coenus explanatus Rider, 1996

Distribution: United States: AL ( Rider 1996), GA ( Rider 1996).

Comments: This species was described after the publication of the Froeschner (1988) catalog. Rider (1996) speculated that this species might be extinct (no collection records known after 1930s), or at least it is very rare. Further collecting in southern Alabama, southern Georgia, and northern Florida is needed to confirm if this species still exists.
