Comments: Thomas & Yonke (1981), in their revision of this genus, gave the distribution for this species as “coastal Atlantic and gulf states from Virginia south to Mexico City and west to Arizona.” Our record from California seems remote from most of the rest of the records of this species from the eastern U.S., except both Thomas & Yonke (1981) and McPherson & Sites (1989) recorded this species also from Arizona. Either this species is very rare in intermediate areas, or it occurs in two disjunct populations.
