The specimen here designated as the lectotype for Carpophilus erichsoni already bears an NHM “TYPE” label; however, there are many specimens bearing that label that may or may not correspond with material used in the original description perfectly. In this case the specimen was verified as a male with matching locality information. Seven specimens were apparently studied by Sharp for the description but not all were able to be confirmed. Labels for the designated specimen are as follows: “Balheu,/Vera Paz,/Champion” “B.C.A. Col. II. 1. / Carpophilus View in CoL /erichsoni,/Sharp.”. A red label is added with the following text: “ LECTOTYPE / Carpophilus erichsoni Sharp /Desig. By/Powell and Martin 2019”.
