Diagnosis. This subgenus is generally separated from the other subgenera in Hemihalictus series occurring in eastern Asia by a combination of the following character states: head and mesosoma black in both sexes (except for the apristum group with weak green-metallic luster in female as in Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ); female mandible with an apical tooth; female labrum with well developed basal elevation; mesepisternum coarsely reticulate-rugulose over entire surface in both sexes ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 C); posterior surface of propodeum with complete lateral carina reaching to posterior edge of metapostnotum as in Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 B ( L. boreale Svensson et al. , L. solisortus Ebmer & Sakagami , and L. subtropicum Sakagami et al. with short lateral carina not reaching to posterior edge of metapostnotum as variation); and male S6 straight apically.
Comments. Palearctic species is classified into 9 species groups combined Pesenko’s system ( Pesenko 2007a) and apristum group ( Ebmer 2002 and Murao & Tadauchi 2005): apristum group ( Ebmer 2002), calceatum group, fulvicorne-fratellum group ( Ebmer 1995), immunitum group, malachurum group ( Ebmer 1995), minutulum group ( Ebmer 1976b), nodicorne group, tricinctum group ( Ebmer 1995), and pauxillum group ( Ebmer 1995) (treated in Pesenko 2007a, as Evylaeus (E.), E. (Fratevylaeus), E. (Monilevylaeus), E. (Malachevylaeus), E. (Minutulaeus), E. (Nodicornevylaeus),, E. (Tricinctevylaeus), E. (Pauxevylaeus). Three groups of them occur in the Korean Peninsula: apristum , calceatum , fulvicorne - fratellum
