Genus Oncotympana Stål, 1870 View in CoL
Pomponia (Oncotympana) Stål, 1870: 710 View in CoL . Type species: Pomponia (Oncotympana) pallidiventris Stål, 1870 ( Philippines) View in CoL .
Oncotympana: Distant, 1905: 60 View in CoL , 70.
Diagnosis. Pronotum distinctly longer than head. Medial pronotal collar very narrow, about one-fifth the length of inner area. Forewing cubital cell about one-third as thick as medial cell. Male operculum wider than long, small and short, failing to cover timbal cover in ventral view; opercula widely separated. Male abdomen more or less translucent ventrally; about as long as or slightly shorter than distance from head to cruciform elevation. Timbal cover globose. Timbal concealed by timbal cover in dorsal view. Aedeagus very thin. Uncal lobes bifurcate, widely separated at base.
Remarks. Lee (2010) placed four species in Oncotympana , providing a key to the species: O. pallidiventris Stål, 1870 , O. viridicincta Stål, 1870 , O. nigristigma ( Walker, 1850) and an undescribed species but misidentified as O. viridicincta by Endo & Hayashi (1979), all from the Philippines. Four additional species of this genus are described here as new species from Luzon, bringing the number of species in the genus to eight. A new key to the species of Oncotympana is provided here to incorporate all eight species.
