Trichomyia mendesi Araújo & Bravo View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 32A–I View FIGURES 32 A – I )

Diagnosis. R2 incomplete at base, R3 with a rupture at base, M2 unsclerotized at base; basal expansion with rouded apex on gonocoxite; two arms of gonocoxite, the dorsal longest and thinner than the ventral with apical bristles, the ventral arm with expanded apex with hairs; ejaculatory apodeme long, twice the length of gonostylus; elongated cercus with four apical curved setae.

Description. Male. Head subcircular in frontal view. Antenna with 13 flagellomeres; scape subcylindrical and elongate; pedicel subspherical; basal flagellomeres pyriform; ascoids 1.6 times as long as the length of flagellomere ( Fig. 32A View FIGURES 32 A – I ); 13th flagellomere subcylindrical with terminal apiculus separated by a suture ( Fig. 32E View FIGURES 32 A – I ). Palpus three segmented; first segment with sensilla in depressed pit on medial surface; palpus formula 1.0:0.5:0.6 ( Fig. 32C View FIGURES 32 A – I ). Wing. R4+5 incomplete at base; R2 incomplete at base, R3 with a rupture at base, M2 unsclerotized at base, r-m and m-cu absent ( Fig. 32D View FIGURES 32 A – I ). Male terminalia: Hypandrium and gonocoxites fused with a pair of basal expansion with rouded apex. Gonocoxite with two arms, the dorsal longer and thinner than the ventral, with about four apical setae and with bristles, about twice the length of the smaller apical ones. The ventral arm with expanded apex with hairs ( Fig. 32I View FIGURES 32 A – I ). Gonostylus slightly sclerotized, articulated ventrally to gonocoxite, bare, truncated and subtriangular. Presence of two pairs of projections in the aedeagal complex; the subtriangular inner with pointed apex, reaching the apex of arm of gonocoxite, the lateral, smaller than inner, curved and with rounded apex ( Figs. 32G, 32I View FIGURES 32 A – I ). Aedeagus subtriangular. Ejaculatory apodeme long, twice the length of gonostylus. Epandrium subquadrangular ( Fig. 32H View FIGURES 32 A – I ). Cercus elongated, pilose and curved with four apical curved setae. Hypoproct with apical micropilosity ( Fig. 32F View FIGURES 32 A – I ).
