Subgenus Syntrichomyia Araújo & Bravo View in CoL
Syntrichomyia Araújo & Bravo, 2003: 459.
Type species: Trichomyia queirozi Bravo, 2002 View in CoL , by original designation.
Comments. Males of Syntrichomyia are easily recognized by the fusion between the gonocoxites and hypandrium forming a plate-like sclerite, the posterolateral surface of which has bristles inserted; other charactersitics include the basal fusion of gonostyli with divergent apices lightly sclerotized and the hypoproct bilobed. Subgenus Syntrichomyia was proposed for grouping three species from Brazil and one from Panamá.
Species included. T. biloba Quate ; T. onorei Bravo ; T. queirozi Bravo ; T. horrida Araújo & Bravo.
