Orientomiris Yasunaga, 1997b: 728 View in CoL –729 (as n. gen.) [type-species by original designation: Calocoris tricolor Scott, 1880 ]. Orientomiris: Chérot, Yasunaga & Gorczyca 1999: 15 View in CoL –18 (diagnose in key); Kerzhner & Josifov 1999: 129 –131 (catalog); Schuh 2002–2013 (online catalog); Zheng et al. 2004: 435–449, 710–711, 758 (generic diagnose, review of Chinese species, key); Aukema, Rieger & Rabitsch 2013: 214 (catalog).

Diagnosis. Body elongate, total length 5.8–10.5 (three species with a total length slightly inferior to 7 mm, a majority with a total length between 7 and 8.5), almost straight to slightly convex, uniformly reddish-brown or dark-brown to black ( Figs 36–50 View FIGURES 36 – 43 View FIGURES 44 – 50 ). Labium long, usually exceeding posterior coxae; first antennal segment elongate; eyes removed from pronotal collar. Pronotum relatively shining with sparse, silky, sub erect setae; pronotal disk frequently shagreened; scutellum relatively slightly arched but not ampule-like. Hemelytra reflective, rugose, their punctation much reduced but very dense, narrow and shallow ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 25 – 27 , A) with superimposed grooves or ridges and frequently a second, wider type of punctures ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 25 – 27 , B), their pilosity uniform, silky, recumbent or semi-erected, veins raised. Tibia with dark brown to black stiff spines. Secondary gonopore complete, devoid of sclerite or long hairs; phallus devoid of comb, true spiculum or phallic support, including numerous lobes complex, frequently partially covered by teeth or setae. Parieto-vaginal rings large, devoid of anterior projection or other additional sclerite; dorso-labiate plate reduced. Dorsal process of posterior wall present but undivided, median process reduced or absent.

Included species. According to the published data (external anatomy, male and female genitalia) and the present study, the following species—conforming to our Orientomiris generic diagnosis—are members of the genus: O chinensis (Li & Zheng, 1991) * (= O. erectus Zheng, 2004 unnecessary new name for O. chinensis ), O. erythromelas Yasunaga, 1997 , O. eurytus Yasunaga, 1988 , O. flavicollaris Yasunaga, 1997 *, O. nigripennis Yasunaga, 1997 , O. piceus (Reuter, 1906) , O. pronotalis (Li & Zheng, 1991) *, O. pseudopronotalis (Li & Zheng, 1991) *, O. rubripeda (Li & Zheng, 1991) *, O. sinicus (Walker, 1873) , O. tenuicornis (Li & Zheng, 1991) *, O. tricolor (Scott, 1880) *, O. yaeyamanus Yasunaga, 1997 , O. y. nigripes Yasunaga, 1997, O. yunnanus (Li & Zheng, 1991) *, O. zoui (Li & Zheng, 1991) *.

On the basis of their external anatomy alone, we propose to place the following species in Orientomiris : O. ater (Poppius, 1915) n. comb.*, O. brunneus (Poppius, 1914) n. comb.*, O. fruhstorferi (Poppius, 1915) n. comb.*, O. maculicollis (Poppius, 1915) n. comb.*, O. marginatus (Poppius, 1915) n. comb.*, O. montanus (Poppius, 1915) n. comb.*, O. monticola (Poppius, 1914) n. comb.*, O. orientalis (Poppius, 1915) n. comb.*, O. pallidicorne (Poppius, 1915) n. comb.*, O. ravana ( Kirkaldy, 1909) n. comb.*, O. sumatranus (Poppius, 1915) n. comb.* and O. uzeli ( Poppius, 1911) n. comb.*

Distribution. Oriental and east Palearctic genus, known from China (Central Territory, South-eastern Territory including Hong Kong, Northern territory and South-western Territory according to Kerzhner & Josifov 1999), India, Indonesia (Lombok, Java, Sumatra), Japan, Philippine Islands and Sri Lanka.
