Anthreptes malacensis citrinus Stresemann, 1932: 107 (Wawo 50 m).

Now Anthreptes malacensis celebensis Shelley, 1878 View in CoL . See Rand, 1967: 213, White and Bruce, 1986: 403–404, and Cheke and Mann, 2008a: 247.

HOLOTYPE: AMNH 300102 View Materials , adult female, collected at Wawo , 50 m, 03.41S, 121.02E (BirdLife International, 2001: 2613), southeast Sulawesi (5 Celebes, as on label), Indonesia, on 21 January 1932, by Gerd Heinrich (no. 6658). GoogleMaps

COMMENTS: Stresemann gave Heinrich’s unique field number of the holotype in the original description and noted ( Stresemann, 1940a: 59) that he had 20 specimens from four localities. Heinrich’s expedition was jointly sponsored by Walter Rothschild, Leonard C. Sanford for AMNH, and ZMB. By the time the material was published, the Rothschild Collection had been purchased by AMNH and two-thirds of the specimens came to New York. The specimens that are stamped with an ‘‘S’’ within a circle were Sanford’s share for AMNH. Paratypes in AMNH are: Paleleh , AMNH 293214 View Materials (Heinrich no. 1975), male, 3 October 1930, AMNH 293215 View Materials (2187), male, 20 October 1930, AMNH 293216 View Materials (1823), female, 27 September 1930, AMNH 293217 View Materials (1854), female, 28 September 1930, AMNH 293218 View Materials (1928), female, 2 October 1930, AMNH 300099 View Materials (1853), male, 28 September 1930 ; Lalolei, AMNH 300100 View Materials (5933), male, 5 December 1931, AMNH 300101 View Materials (5958), male, 6 December 1931 ; Wawo, AMNH 300103 View Materials (6757), female, 3 February 1931 ; Paleleh, AMNH 300104 View Materials (1976), female immature, 3 October 1930 ; Lalolei, AMNH 300105 View Materials (5959), female immature, 6 December 1931, AMNH 300106 View Materials (5965), female immature, 7 December 1931. The remaining paratypes are in ZMB .

A misprint in Stresemann (1940a: 59) indicated that there were two males collected at Wawo; however, both specimens, including the holotype were sexed by Heinrich as females. Rand (1967: 213) recognized citrinus, but more recent authors have not .
