HOLOTYPE: AMNH 656319 About AMNH , adult male, collected at Takar , 02.02S, 139.08E ( USBGN, 1982), Papua Province, Indonesia, in October 1896, by William Doherty (no. 1011). From the Rothschild Collection. GoogleMaps
COMMENTS: In the original description, the type was said to bear the unique number 1011, thereby designating it the holotype. Rothschild and Hartert (1903a: 96) also listed their specimens, all of which came to AMNH. The paratypes are: AMNH 656320 About AMNH , female, Takar , October 1896 ; AMNH 656321 About AMNH , female, Takar , November 1896 ; AMNH 656340 About AMNH , unsexed, N.E. Coast, Tana Mera ; AMNH 656341 About AMNH , female, Tana Mera, October 1896. The Tana Mera specimens are also paratypes of proteus (see below) .
