Belostoma anurum (Herrich-Schäffer, 1848)

Geographical distribution: Martinique, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Colombia, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, French Guiana, Brazil, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay. Records north of those presented above are highly doubtful and not considered here.

Distribution in Brazil: Northeast, Central-West, Southeast and South regions (MA, CE, RN, BA, AL, DF, MG, ES, SP, RJ, SC) ( Ribeiro 2007).

Comments: Some of the B. anurum specimens studied so far do not differ from B. subspinosum (Palisot de Beauvois, 1805) subspecies in features of the phallus, and B. anurum might eventually prove to be a junior-synonym of B. subspinosum .
