Replacing name for Medinilla albiflora Perrier (1932: 144) nom. illeg., non Medinilla albiflora Merrill (1913: 385) . Lectotype (designated here):— MADAGASCAR. Farafangana, between Vondrozo and Ivohibe, 900m ± 100m, 18 September 1926,

Decary 5260 (P barcode P00061447!; isolectotypes P barcode P00061448!, P barcode P00061459!). Remaining syntypes: Decary

5259 (P barcode P00061445!, P barcode P000614456!).

Eponymy:—From Madagascar, locus classicus.

Distribution:— Madagascar ( POWO 2021).

Note:—In the protologue, Perrier (1932) mentioned two gatherings from Farafangana: Decary 5259 and Decary 5260. In P Herbarium we found five specimens, Decary 5259 with two specimens and Decary 5260 with three specimens. Of the five specimens, we have chosen the specimen with barcode P00061447 as the lectotype because it agrees well with the protologue, furthermore this specimen was used for the illustration published later by Perrier (1951).
