Microsargane ( Microrhaphe) subgen.nov.

Type-species: Microrhaphe martialis sp.nov., the only included species.

Etymology. micro- small, rhaphe (f.) seam, referring to the linear markings.

Diagnosis. Striped in brown or black and yellow to tan ( Figs 9 View FIGURES 9 H–K); theca unique ( Figs 55 View FIGURES 55 – 60 A–C).

Description. Head slightly narrower than pronotum; crown with longitudinal, parallel-margined, darkened sulci, coronal margin carinate; antennal postpedicel small, as in the nominate subgenus, but with fewer scattered coeloconic sensilla ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 24 H); eye transverse, longer than lateral margins of pronotum. Tegmina each with 2 costal crossveins, outer and inner anteapical cells large, tip without small preapical cell, 2 veins reaching tip forking just before margin. Hind tibiae each with double pecten of 8 black-tipped spines, hind tarsal pectens with 6 blacktipped spines on basomere, 8–9 black-tipped spines on 2nd tarsomere. Male abdominal segment X membranous as in Cercopinae ; pygofers with small hook just above base of subgenital plate; plates fused, together ovoid ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 55 – 60 D); style furcate, with setal tufts on tip of inner process and on outer edge near midlength ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 55 – 60 E); thecal tip short and spinelike, with strongly curving, unbranched processes from outer angles of transverse basal plate ( Figs 55 View FIGURES 55 – 60 A–C).

Remarks. M. ( Microtholia) sobria barcodes as 4.5% divergent from this subgenus, as does the nominate subgenus of Microsargane ; other species of Microtholia are as much as 8.2% divergent. Only one species known [CNC-HEM#305415 barcodes as 2% divergent, about that between the two species of Neaeniskus].
