Types. Holotype, male, NMNS —6519-001 . Paratypes: 4 males and 4 females, NMNS 6519-002 View Materials ― 06519-009 View Materials ; 2 males and 2 females, AM P.84807); 2 males and 2 females, ASIZCR 000230.
Type locality. Guan-du , Taipei County, Taiwan .
Ecological type. Marsh-hopper.
Habitat. Marsh-hopper living in salt marshes and under fallen leaves and grass in humid places such as banks of streamlets and paddy fields. According to Cheng et al. 2011 the salt marsh in Guan-du, Taiwan is dominated by Phragmites communis (L.) Trin. and Brachiaria mutica (Forsk) Stapf. , with irregular flooding after raining. Platorchestia paludosus was found under leaf-litter of Brachiaria mutica (Forsk) on the water front of estuarine marshes.
Size. 7–8 mm.
Diagnosis. Based on Miyamoto & Morino (2004).
Pleopods rami about as long as peduncle. Uropod 3 ramus about 0.7 × length of peduncle. Telson with 4 robust setae per lobe.
Remarks. See remarks under M. humicola and under M. japonica .
Distribution. Taiwan: Guan-du ( Cheng et al. 2011); Tanshui and Nanfang-ao ( Miyamoto & Morino 2004).
