Material examined. NMNH: Greece: 13, 1Ƥ, Samothraki Island, v. Paleopolis, 0–100m, 21.V. 1984, leg. P. Beron, det. J.–P. Mauriès “ 480 ”.

Distribution in the Balkans. Bulgaria: Kardzhali, Strandzha Mts. (unspecified type locality), Tsarevo (Michurin), Southeast Bulgaria ( Vagalinski & Stoev 2007); Greece: Thrace: 20km W from Alexandroupolis ( Strasser 1976).

World distribution. This subspecies can be found only in Bulgaria and Greece, while the nominotypical subspecies lives in Ukraine ( Golovatch 1990) and Russia with the river Dnieper as a supposed western borderline ( Prisnyi 2001).

Remarks. It occurs from sea level to ca. 300m a.s.l. First Megaphyllum (and millipede) record on Samothraki Island, fitting well with the “Thracian” distribution.
