Type species: Pholas costatus Linnaeus, 1758 , by original designation.
Distribution: East coast of America.
Remarks: Scobinopholas currently includes two valid species. Cyrtopleura (Scobinopholas) costata ( Linnaeus 1758) and C. (S.) lanceolata (d'Orbigy, 1841 in 1834–1847). The former distributed along the east coast of North and Central America, and the latter living along the southeastern coast of South America. The species included into this subgenus are characterized by a lanceolate protoplax.
