Syringophilopsis icteri Bochkov and Galloway, 2001

This species is known from three passerine hosts of the genus Icterus Brisson , I. galbula (Linnaeus) , I. bullocki (Swainson) , and I. spurius (Linnaeus) from Canada and USA ( Bochkov & Galloway 2001; Skoracki et al. 2011, 2016). The present study provides a new host record and a new locality for this mite species.

Material examined. Seven females and 2 males from Icterus pustulatus (Wagler) ( Passeriformes : Icteridae ), MEXICO: Jalisco, Chamela Station of UNAM, 19 May 2008, coll. S.V. Mironov (SVM 08-0519-3/2); mite specimens deposited in UNAM, UMMZ and AMU.
