Comments: Fisher (1985) commented on an undescribed Ctenodontina species from Tambopata Reserved Zone in Peru that had no spinous tubercle on the male hind femora and having characteristics of male terminalia that would clearly distinguish it from other Ctenodontina species. He assigned it “as Ctenodontina sp. 1 ”. The material deposited at MUSM and determined by Fisher from this site (n. sp. on label) corresponds to the described species Ctenodontina nairae . This species is common at Tambopata (in sympatry with C. carrerai ) and other localities. A recent observation in Megantoni (Cuzco) showed that this species preys on leafhoppers of the genus Pachitea Melichar ( Hemiptera : Cicadellidae ) ( Fig. 6C View FIGURE 6 ), possibly Pachitea jezima Young (see Wilson et al. 2009).
Distribution ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ). Bolivia, Brazil and Peru (departments of Cuzco, Loreto and Madre de Dios). Among all known Ctenodontina species , C. nairae possesses the widest distribution, from lowland areas in the Amazonian rainforest in Brazil (Coari, Amazonas - type locality) and Peru (Loreto and Madre de Dios) to higher elevation areas around 1000 m on the east side of the Andes in Peru (Cuzco) and Bolivia (La Paz) ( Vieira 2012; Vieira 2014; Vieira et al. 2017). This species lives in sympatry with C. carrerai and C. maya .
