Metacrangon angusticauda . — Miyake 1982: 71, pl. 24, fig. 1. Not Metacrangon angusticauda (De Haan, 1849) = Syncrangon angusticauda (De Haan, 1849) View in CoL .

Metacrangon miyakei Kim, 2005: 246 View in CoL , figs 5, 6; De Grave & Fransen 2011: 457 (list).

Type material. Holotype: off Taiza , Tango Peninsula, Sea of Japan, 110 m, 24 September 1981, coll. M. Toriyama, female (cl 8.2 mm), ZLKU 1177 . Not examined

Diagnosis (derived from original description). Rostrum directed forward, slightly arched, subtrapezoidal in shape, slightly overreaching antennal teeth (0.2 times as long as carapace); tip truncate in dorsal view; dorsal surface with slightly elevated lateral margins; ventral carina high. Carapace with 3 middorsal teeth; anterior tooth moderately large, directed forward, compressed laterally, epigastric in position (arising slightly anterior to 0.2 of carapace length); second tooth tiny, showing as accessory tooth of anterior tooth; posterior tooth tiny, arising at 0.6 of carapace length; submedian teeth present; postorbital angle gently sloping; antennal tooth directed forward in lateral view, acuminate, supported by distinct carina with gently convex lateral margin; branchiostegal tooth moderately strong, directed forward in dorsal and lateral views. First to fifth abdominal somites with narrow, distinct middorsal carina. First to third abdominal pleura rounded marginally. Sixth abdominal somite with distinct submedian carinae. Telson damaged. Eye 1.2 times longer than wide; corneal width less than 0.2 of carapace length; dorsal tubercle rounded. Antennular peduncle reaching midlength of antennal scale; first segment with short, blunt distolateral process; stylocerite broad, far falling short of distolateral process of first segment; second segment with short, blunt distolateral process. Antennal scale 0.5 times as long as carapace, 1.9 times longer than wide; lateral margin slightly convex; distolateral tooth broad, falling short of distal margin of lamella; lamella weakly produced, broadly rounded. Third maxilliped with ultimate segment 4.2 times longer than wide. First pereopod with palm 2.7 times longer than wide.

Description. See Kim (2005).

Coloration. Reddish brown in background color, scattered with white spots, but first to third abdominal somites with reverse pattern; uropods rather transparent ( Miyake 1982: pl. 24, fig. 1; Kim 2005).

Size. Female cl 8.2 mm.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality, off Tango Peninsula, Sea of Japan ( Fig. 41); 110 m.

Remarks. This species is represented only by the holotype. Kim’s (2005) original description of this species is very detailed, and there is no necessity to re-examine the holotype. As stated by Kim (2005), Metacrangon miyakei appears closest to M. sinensis , but is unique within the genus in the crest-like, subdivided anterior middorsal tooth on the carapace.
