Anagallis monelli var. genuina Pau in Font Quer, Iter Marocc. 1927 nº 470 (1928), in sched., nom. inval.

= Lysimachia monelli (L.) U.Manns & Anderb. subsp. monelli

Notes:—On the label there is a handwritten observation by Pau about the variability of this specimen, indicating that it is similar to plants from Cádiz ( Spain). The name of the variety should be considered invalid according to Art. 24.3 ( Turland et al. 2018).

1,3 Anagallis monelli var. speciosa Pau & Font Quer in Font Quer, Iter Marocc. 1930 nº 506 (1932), in sched.

Lysimachia monelli (L.) U.Manns & Anderb. subsp. monelli

Ind. loc.:—“Hab. in schistosis, pr. Sidi Ali (Beni Aros), ad 300 m. alt.; 6 majii”

Lectotype (designated here):—In schistosis, pr. Sidi Ali (Beni Aros), 300 m., 6 May 1930, Font Quer 506-1930 (lectotype BC 98173 ! [https://www.ibb.csic.es/herbari/ JPEG / BC98173 .jpg]; isolectotypes BCN 12667 View Materials !, GDA 35627 View Materials [photo!], MA 91527 !, MPU 006718 View Materials [photo!], S 09-44942 [photo!])

Notes:—The GDA specimen was labelled as syntype by Vizoso in 2013. The BC specimen was identified as Anagallis monelli L. by Martinell in 2004, without indicating any infraspecific taxa; the same criterion as used in APD (2020), which synoymizes this variety to Lysimachia monelli . Based on the size and shape of the leaves of the type material, it should be synonymized under subsp. monelli . Vizoso (2018) mentioned as type the specimen MA 91526!, but it corresponds to a locality (Jebel Mago) and collection date (June 1930) different from those of the original material.

1,2,3 Andryala gracilis Pau View in CoL in Bol. Soc. Aragonesa Ci. Nat. 17: 130 (1918)

= Andryala integrifolia L.

Ind. loc.:—“Tifasor; y fueron recogidas desde el día 10 al 30 de Julio del año 1915”

Holotype:— Bisanor , Melilla (Tifasor?) [m. N. Ibáñez], June 1916 [sphalm. for 1915], Aterido s.n. ( BC 36093 ! [https://www.ibb.csic.es/herbari/ JPEG / BC36093 .jpg])

Notes:—The label on the specimen came from “Museu de Catalunya. Herbari” and was written by a transcriber, which would explain the error both in the locality and date. There is no “Bisanor” in Melilla: it must have been an erroneous transcription for Tifasor (as already indicated in the label by Ibáñez, curator of the Herb. BC). Moreover, Aterido was in Melilla only in 1915 for military service, and by 1916, he was working in Barcelona (see González-Bueno & Gomis 2007).

1,2,3 Andryala × humilis Pau in Font Quer, Iter Marocc. 1927 nº 728 (1928), in sched., pro sp.

= § Andryala × faurei Maire [= Andryala integrifolia L. × A. arenaria (DC.) Boiss. & Reut. ]

Ind. loc.:—“ Hab. in umbrosis Yebel Dahar, pr. Axdir (Beni Urriaguel), 300 m. alt., solo calcareo; 9 majii” Lectotype (designated by Talavera & Talavera 2015: 304):—In umbrosis Yebel Dahar, pr. Axdir (Beni Urriaguel), 300 m, 9 May 1927, Font Quer 728-1927 (lectotype BC 36140 ! Notes:—The BM specimen was labelled as isotype by Ferreira in 2013, and the GDA specimen as syntype by Vizoso in 2013. The GDA and MPU specimens were cited as isotypes by Talavera & Talavera (2015) and Dobignard (2009), respectively. Montserrat (2002b), Fennane (2014a), and APD (2020) synonymized the name by Pau under A. integrifolia , but according to Talavera & Talavera (2015) it should be considered a hybrid between A. integrifolia and A. arenaria , due to the original material having intermediate characters between these two species. The correct name of this hybrid is A. × faurei , which was published by Maire (1926) and thus have priority.

1 Andryala integrifolia View in CoL nothovar. vidalii Pau View in CoL in Vidal, Asoc. Esp. Progr. Ci. Congr. Cádiz 6: 151 (1928), pro var.

Notes:—The specimen was labelled as lectotype by Talavera in 2015. Talavera & Talavera (2015) consider this taxon an interspecific hybrid between Andryala integrifolia and A. rothia , whose correct name is A. × caballeroi ( Font Quer 1935) .

The BC, G, and MPU specimens were identified as Anthemis abylaea and labelled as isolectotypes by Oberprieler in 1997. Sennen distributed this original material in his exsiccata Plantes d’Espagne 1929, number 6980.

Notes:—The specimens were identified as A. vulneraria subsp. maura by Cullen in 1960. Pau labelled the lectotype as “ A. tingitana var. hosmariensis ” and the isolectotype as A. hosmariensis . When he published this new taxon he used the specific rank. The chosen lectotype is the one with the leaves in better condition.

Notes:—In Carrasco (1975) this taxon appears as Anthyllis vulneraria var. ajmasiana Pau. The BC and B specimens were cited as types by Rothmaler (1941) and the BM specimen by Cullen (1976). The MA specimen was identified as A. vulneraria subsp. maura var. maura by Cullen in 1961. In APD (2020) this taxon is accepted at the subspecies rank [ A. vulneraria subsp. ajmasiana (Pau) Raynaud & Sauvage ], but according to Benedí (2000) and Fennane (2007) subsp. maura also includes plants with yellow flowers (the diagnostic character of the variety of Pau).

1 Anthyllis polycephala var. ballii Pau in Font Quer, Iter Marocc. 1929 nº 266 (1930a), in sched.
