Lectotype locality. Mexico, Veracruz: Jalapa. Distribution. Mexico (Jalisco, Michoacán [new record], Morelos, Oaxaca, Sonora, Veracruz), Nicaragua (Granada).

Remarks. Sternidius LeConte, 1873 contains 23 species distributed mainly in the USA and Mexico. Sternidius subfascianus (White, 1855) is the only species distributed in South America (Venezuela) ( Monné 2024b) .
