Body length 2.3–2.8 mm. Bristles yellow (including bristles on basal section of costa). Acrostichal bristle present. Scutum yellow, usually with subquadrate spot on anterior margin and one pair of minute supra­alar spots; sometimes with triangular spot on posterior margin and/or with one pair of small posterolateral spots. Scutellum yellow with one pair of brown lateral stripes; basal margin sometimes brown. Laterotergites yellow with one pair of median vertical stripes, or entirely brown lateral to scutellum. Pleuron and legs yellow, sometimes with thin vertical stripe near posterodorsal margin of anepisternum. Head predominantly light yellow; frons brown on posterior half (excluding lateral margins); back of head brown on dorsal 2/3 or with one pair of brown stripes radiating from foramen (sometimes entirely absent, or only present as small median chevron); gena (and sometimes anterior half of occiput) silvery tomentose. Abdomen entirely brown excluding surstylus and cerci, sometimes with tergites 1 and 2 yellow or with tergite 1 and anterior half of tergites 2 and 5 yellow. Wing lightly clouded around crossveins and apex of R 2+3; sometimes also widely infuscated around CuA 1.

Annulus well developed. Height of epandrium subequal to width; length half height. Cerci half height of epandrium, entirely united, ovate, and with shallow apical emargination. Surstylus triangular and 0.6 times height of epandrium; sparsely setose on outer face and with numerous tubercles apically on inner face. Pregonite with deep posterior emarginations, three long bristles anteriorly and numerous minute setulae along distal margin. Basiphallus quadrate. Phallapodeme half length of hypandrium+pregonite. Distiphallus large and sac­like with straight basal section and several poorly sclerotized distal sections.

Etymology: The specific name refers to the collection locality of the holotype.

Distribution: Brazil (Map 3).

Holotype: BRAZIL. Roraima, Pacaraima , 25.vi–5.vii.1988, J.A. Rafael (1♂, INPA).

Paratypes: BRAZIL. Amazonas : e. univ. 1.vi.1982, J.A. Rafael (1♂, INPA; 1♂, DEBU), AM:010.km 31 Embrapa, 18.iii.1992, L.P. Albuquerque & J. Binda, Arm. Shannon, Iso Fruta (1♂, INPA) .

Comments: The male genitalia of Craspedochaeta pacaraima are similar to those of other species in the group (see comments for C. protomis and S. ornata ), but the pattern on the thorax and frons can be easily recognized.
