Male terminalia ( Figs. 49, 50 View FIGURES 47–52 , 62 View FIGURES 61–66 )

Externally as described for C. pleuralis except emargination on cerci narrower and surstylus 2/3 as long and narrowest at tip. Hypandrial complex as described for C. pleuralis except posterodistal margin of pregonite more setose and anterior lobe more pronounced.

Etymology: The specific name refers the shape of the surstylus, which resembles a claw.

Comments: Craspedochaeta chela can be separated from other species with a cruciate notal pattern by a small, hooklike surstylus, and a black first flagellomere in the male. It also differs from similar species in that the face and legs are at least partially brown.
