Ptiloxenus elegans ( Č erný, 1969)
Material examined. Ex Podilymbus podiceps (Linnaeus) ( Podicipediformes : Podicipedidae ): 2 males, Dept. Cauca: Guapi, 21 September 1974, UV No. 4075.
Ex Tachybaptus dominicus (Linnaeus) : 1 male, Dept. Valle del Cauca: Candelaria, El Carmelo , 4 September 1967, coll. H. Álvarez, UV No. 1505 .
Hosts and distribution. This species was described ex T. d. dominicus (Linnaeus) (as Podiceps d. dominicus ) from Cuba (Oriente) ( Č erný 1969). Later on, it was recollected ex P. podiceps from USA (Florida) ( Forrester & Spalding 2003).
