COMMENTS: The bird was named in honour of Wilhelm I (1797–1888), latinized as Guilielmus, the German emperor from 1871 to 1888 and the formal ruler of 'German New Guinea'. See Paradisea Augustae Victoriae for additional information on Hunstein. These two birds comprise the type series .
