The genus Endochus is redescribed with additional characters collected from the observation of twenty species of Endochus ( Sahayaraj 1991; Ambrose et al. 2007; Krishnan 2010)
Head cylindrical, slightly or moderately longer than prothorax, as long as rostrum and exceeding onequarter length of insect; either a spine or tubercle at base of each antenna; postocular region longer, but not quite twice as long as anteocular region, ocelli on postocular region just behind a transverse sulcus separating anteocular from postocular, compound eyes laterally placed; first antennal segment variable in length, subequal to head, pronotum, scutellum together or to anterior femora or to fore or hind tibia or to posterior femora or to abdomen and almost half insect’s length; rostrum almost one-quarter length of insect, first segment a little longer than second; neck distinct; prothorax broader than long, pronotum medially impressed with shorter anterior lobe and longer posterior lobe, posterolateral angles acutely spinously produced and deflexed downwardly or upwardly or horizontally; legs ending with rudimentary tibial pads, tarsi threesegmented, basal segment shortest, terminal segment longest, ending with pair of claws.
Measurements [in mm, (n= 38)]. Body length 9.06–16.01; head length 1.86–4.11, width across eye 0.35–0.81; length of anteocular area 0.60–1.64, of postocular area 0.95–2.10; antennal length 9.43–20.85, lengths of antennal segments I: 4.15–8.31, II: 1.40–4.21, III: 2.89–6.04, IV: 0.53–2.87; rostral length 1.62–3.86, lengths of visible rostral segments I: 0.80–2.03, II: 0.50–1.20, III: 0.25–0.62.
