Bithoracochaeta pacifera ( Giglio-Tos, 1893)

pacifera Giglio-Tos, 1893: 11 (as Coenosia ). Type locality: Mexico, Tuxpango .

Bithoracochaeta pacifera: Pont, 1972: 37 (catalogue); Carvalho et al. (2005: 175, catalogue, taxonomic history).

Original description in Giglio-Tos (1893: 11): “ Nigra, nitens; facie, frontilis lateribus, antennarum basi et calypteris albidis; thorace et scutello piceo pollinosis, abdomine fascilis basalibus cinereo-pollinosis; pedibus et halteribus testaceis, tarsis nigris; alis dilute flavidis ” (Black, shiny; face, sides of front, base of antenna and calypter whitish; thorax and scutellum with very dark grey pollinosity; basal abdominal surface with grey pollinosity, legs and halters orange, tarsi black; wings pale yellow).

Distribution. Mexico ( Carvalho et al. 2005).

Comments. This species was not included in the revisions by Motta & Couri (1999) and Carvalho & Couri (2005) because the type specimen was under moving in the collection of the Museum of Torino, Italy, as stated by Motta & Couri (1999). Subsequently, Carvalho & Couri (2005) did not add it in the key to the Neotropical fauna because the original description is not sufficient to properly recognize this species. We also tried to locate the type specimen in the Museum of Torino for examine specimens without success.
