Type species. Eudora truncatula Bate, 1856 .

Diagnosis. Female. Pseudorostrum directed dorsally. Antennule geniculate between article 2 and 3. Pereopod 2 without ischium. Exopods present on maxilliped 3 to pereopod 3. Uropod endopod biarticulate.

Adult male. Antennal flagellum extending to end of pleon. Exopods present on maxilliped 3– pereopod 4. With 2 pairs of pleopods.

Remarks. The genus Eudorella is surprisingly uniform in overall form, with species specific differences in small details such as the exact shape and spacing of teeth on the antennal notch, and details of setation. The genus is known primarily from temperate to cold waters, but is depauperate in temperate Australian waters, represented by a single described species. There are at least two other species of Eudorella present in the collections of Museum Victoria. However, the material was insufficient to describe the species, given that the modern understanding of discriminating species of Eudorella relies on small morphological details that may easily be damaged, such as details of the antennal notch and setal presence/ absence.

Australian species. Eudorella rochfordi Hale, 1945 .
