Description

Female. Body length 2.8 mm. Forewing 1.7 mm. Head: head longer than wide. Malar space as long as VOL, convergent anteriorly. Mandible with three sharpened apical teeth. Median clypeal lobe quadrate; lateral lobe short; median clypeal carina arched, complete, straight in dorsal view. Antenna short [not reaching the mesoscutum]; scape slightly curved; pedicel caliciform; flagellomere I shorter than pedicel; flagellomeres short. Eye small [0.5 x LH], circular. Frons strongly foveolate. Frontal angle of ocellar triangle right; ocelli very small, DAO 2.0 × POL; ocellar fovea absent. Dorsal half of occipital carina high, with side strigate; ventral half of occipital carina complete, high, with side strigate. Mesosoma: dorsal pronotal area shorter than wide, weakly foveolate, anterior margin outcurved, anterior corner angled, trapezoidal, lateral margin straight, posterior margin sinuous; longitudinal pronotal sulcus complete. Anteromesoscutum coriaceous, longer than mesoscutellum; longitudinal antero-mesoscutal sulcus absent; notaulus deep, narrow, polished; parapsidal signum shallow. Axilla strigate, shallow. Mesoscutummesoscutellar sulcus arched, not laterally dilated; mesoscutellum short, coriaceous. Metapectal-propodeal complex 0.5 × as long as wide; metapostnotum with longitudinal ridge between metaposnotal median carina and metaposnotal-propodeal suture; metapostnotal surface strigate; metapostnotal median carina complete; posterior projection of metapectal-propodeal complex short, thick. Propodeal declivity strigate, with median and lateral carinae. Lateral surface of metapectal-propodeal complex strigate, without subdorsal carina, with vertical carina. Mesopleuron foveolate; posterior oblique sulcus foveolate; mesopleural suture with inner margin strigate. Wings: macropterous; transverse median vein arched; stigma sub-developed, distal margin truncate. Metasoma: tergum I with ventral surface coriaceous, with lateral pilosity; tergum II with dorsal surface polished, with lateral pilosity, ventral surface polished. Genitalia: T9 slender, not overlapping the 2vf. 2vf with anterior area (aa) narrow, posterior projection narrow, dorsal projection (dp) short; anterior section of dorsal flange of second valvifer (asf) transversally oriented. Shaft (1vv+2vv) as long as sting body (2vf+3vv), thick, 2vv wider than 1vv. 3vv longer than wide.

Colouration. Wings: bi-banded; light castaneous: scape, pedicel, mandible, palpi, wing venation, tibiae, and tarsi; orange: pronotum and mesonotum; castaneous: head, tegulae, coxae, trochanters, femora; dark castaneous: flagellum and metasoma.

Remarks

This species is similar to I. consimilis ( Móczár, 1970) by having eye small, longitudinal sulcus of anteromesoscutum absent, and posterior projection of metapectal-propodeal complex short. However, Incertosulcus shiraz sp. nov. has body dark castaneous, head longer than wide, median clypeal lobe quadrate, ocelli very small, anteromesoscutum coriaceous, the notaulus narrow, the posterior carina of metapectal-propodeal complex incomplete medially, lateral surface of metapectal-propodeal complex without metapectal carina and mesopleural suture with inner margin strigate.

The metapectal-propodeal complex posterior carina incomplete medially is an interesting characteristic observed for this species and genus, because this characteristic was recorded only for Heterocoelia species , within Mesitiinae .
