6. Limonium carpathum View in CoL group.―The plants in this group are glaucous with verrucose-tuberculate surfaces. The stems are rigid and bear few or no sterile branches. The leaves are also rigid, often caniculate, and the large spikelets are arranged remotely. This group contains numerous apomictic species (2n = 34, 43, 61) with very restricted distributions. They occur on a few islands in the South and East Aegean, such as Rhodes ( L. monolithicum ), Karpathos ( L. carpathum , L. amopicum , L. vanandense ), Crete ( L. sitiacum , L. calliopsium ), and Samos ( L. samium ), while L. oligotrichum grows on Karpathos and in eastern Crete.
