Amydetes goiana View in CoL sp. nov.

(Figs. 8, 30, 49, 68, 86, 114, 132, 176–179)

Diagnosis. Antennomere III with flabellum 3x longer than antennomere III. Abdominal sternum VIII with posterior margin straight. Abdominal sternum IX with sagittal indentation posteriad.

Colouration. (Fig. 8) Integument black. Prothorax, posterior 4/5 of scutellum, elytral humeral macula, pro and mesocoxas yellowish-brown.

Head. ( Figs. 30 View FIGURES 23 – 40 , 49) Fronto-clypeus slightly depressed up to antennal sockets, anterior margin 2x wider than distance between antennal sockets and slightly wider than distance between antennifers. Antenna with 32–35 antennomeres (n=2), antennomere III 1 /5 longer than pedicel, flabellum 3x longer than antennomere III. Labrum with anterior margin straight or slightly emarginate. Maxillary palpomere IV 2.5x longer than III, 1/4 longer than labial palpomere III. Gular sutures as separeted as maxillary palpomere IV width.

Thorax. (Figs. 68, 86) Pronotum with lateral margins divergent posteriad, posterior angle projected and slightly deflexed; setigerous punctures irregularly separeted 1– 2 x the diameter of a puncture. Hypomeron slightly more than 1.5x longer than high. Scutellum subparallel-sided. Elytron subparallel-sided; marginal costa with anterior margin not projected. Mesosternum with posterior margin rounded.

Abdomen. ( Figs. 114 View FIGURES 107 – 115 , 132 View FIGURES 125 – 133 , 176–179 View FIGURES 172 – 183 ) Abdominal sternum V with posterior margin straight. Abdominal sterna VI and VII with lanterns as long and wide as 3/5 sternum length and width.. Abdominal sternum VIII with posterior margin straight. Pygidium with median lobe rounded, slightly longer than lateral lobe, as wide as 1/2 posterior margin width; indentation between lateral lobe and median lobe developed. Terminalia: Syntergite with anterior margin acuminate and posterior symmetric; with wisp of bristles at lateral margins and row of bristes at posterior margin; suture between abdominal tergites IX and X conspicuous. Abdominal sternum IX almost 2x longer than syntergite; oval, 2x longer than wide; wider at posterior 1/3; lateral margins divergent posteriad up to 2/ 3 sternum length, bristled slightly more than posterior 1/2; with sagittal indentation posteriad. Aedeagus: Phallobase asymmetric. Parameres basally constricted, subapically contiguous. Paramere and phallum with apex rounded. Phallum 1/3 longer than paramere, ventral plate barely distinct; expanded apex indistinct.

Type-material. Holotype: BRAZIL, Goiás, Dianápolis, 11–14/I/1962, J. Bechyné col., male (MZSP). One male paratype with same procedente of holotype (MZSP).

Etymology. The specific epithet is the gentilic name of the Goiás State of Brazil, where the species dwells.

Remarks. Amydetes goiana sp. nov. resembles A. apicalis (Fig. 2), A. caetite sp. nov. ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10 – 18 ), A. lucernula sp. nov. ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10 – 18 ), A. itatiaia sp. nov. ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 10 – 18 ) and A. vivianii sp. nov. ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 10 – 18 ), from it differs in abdominal sternum IX with sagittal indentation. It differs from Amydetes itatiaia sp. nov. by abdominal sternum VIII with posterior margin straight (median projection conpicuous in Amydetes itatiaia sp. nov.). It differs from A. vivianii sp. nov. by abdominal sternum VI with lantern as long as 3/5 sternum length (almost as long as sternum in A. vivianii sp. nov.).
