Amydetes plaumanni View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 12 View FIGURES 10 – 18 , 34 View FIGURES 23 – 40 , 53, 72, 90, 98, 100, 118, 136, 143, 192–195)

Diagnosis. Fronto-clypeus discreetly depressed up to antennal sockets. Antennomere III slightly longer than pedicel, flabellum 2.5x longer than antennomere III. Pronotum with posterior angle weakly developed and weakly deflexed. Elytron with marginal costa with anterior margin projected, abdominal sternum V with posterior margin straight.

Colouration. ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10 – 18 ) Integument dark-brown, Pronotum with expansions light-brown or pale yellow, abdominal sternum VI and VII with margins translucent.

Head. ( Figs. 34 View FIGURES 23 – 40 , 53) Fronto-clypeus discreetly depressed up to antennal sockets, anterior margin slightly less than 1/3 wider than distance between antennal sockets and slightly wider than distance between antennifers. Labrum emarginate. Antenna with 30–43 antennomeres (n=3); antennomere III slightly longer than pedicel, flabellum 2.5x longer than antennomere III. Maxillary palpomere IV 2x longer than III, as long as labial palpomere III. Gular sutures as separeted as maxillary palpomere IV width.

Thorax. (Figs. 72, 90, 98, 100) Pronotum with lateral margins divergent posteriad, posterior angle weakly developed and weakly deflexed. Setigerous punctures irregularly separeted 1.5– 3x the diameter of a puncture. Hypomeron ca. 1.5x longer than high. Elytrons subparallel-sided, marginal costa with anterior margin projected. Scutellum with lateral margins convergent posteriad. Mesosternum with posterior margin acute.

Abdomen. ( Figs. 118 View FIGURES 116 – 124 , 136 View FIGURES 134 – 142 , 143 View FIGURES 143 – 146. 143 – 145 , 192–195 View FIGURES 184 – 195 ) Abdominal sternum V with posterior margin straight. Lanterns do sterna abdominais VI and VII almost as long and wide as these sterna. Abdominal sternum VIII with posterior margin straight. Pygidium as wide as 4/5 posterior margin width, rounded and slightly longer than lateral lobe, which is rudimentary. Terminalia: Syntergite with anterior margin acuminate and posterior margin asymmetric; suture between abdominal tergites IX and X conspicuous. Abdominal sternum IX 3x longer than wide; slightly less than 2x longer than syntergite; bristled at posterior 1/3. Abdominal sternum IX with lateral margins divergent posteriad up to 2/3 sternum length. Aedeagus: Phallobase asymmetric. Parameres apically rounded and close-set subapically. Phallum 1/3 longer than paramere, with lateral margins slightly convergent posteriad, ventral plate straight and well sclerotized.

Etymology. The epithet is in honor to the former naturalist Fritz Plaumann, who is, up up to now, the only collector of this species.

Remarks. It resembles A. fastigiata (Fig. 4) and A. fucata (Fig. 5). Differs from the former by the characteristics pointed in the Remarks section of this species. Differs from the latter by the characteristics pointed in the Remarks section of this species.

Material examined. Holotype: BRASIL. Santa Catarina: Nova Teutônia (now Seara) XI/1951, Plaumann col., male ( MZSP). Eight male paratypes (with same procedence of the holotype): (27º 11’ S 52º23’L), 4 males, XI/1950, Plaumann col. ( MZSP); 1, XII/1941, Plaumann col. ( BMNH); 1, 20 /XI/1938, without col. ( BMNH); 1 male, 24/XI/1940, without col. ( BMNH); (27º 11’ S 52º23’L), 1 male, Fritz Plaumann, ( MZSP).
