Guarea chirriactensis Standl. & Steyerm., Publ. Field Mus. Nat. Hist. Chicago, Bot Ser. View in CoL 23(4): 167 (1944). Type:— GUATEMALA. Dept. Alta Verapaz, between Chirriacte and Semococh, fl., Steyermark 46355 (holotype, F; isotypes, NY, US).

Abbreviated Description. Indumentum of simple hairs, leaflets 5–6, opposite or alternate, ca. 23 × 12 cm, broadly oblong, elliptic or oblanceolate, inflorescence clustered in axils of developing leaves, to 7 cm long, a pyramidal panicle, petals 3–4, 6.5–7 mm long, free, slightly imbricate, filaments completely fused, anthers densly pubescent, 7–8, nectary annular, torulose, ovary 2-locular, locules with 2 collateral ovules, fruit unknown.

Distribution & Ecology. Still known only from 3 collections from Chiapas, Mexico and from Alto Verapaz, Guatemala, where it occurs in wet forest between 300m and 1400 m elevation.

Additional Collections Examined. MEXICO. Chiapas: Municipio Lac Margaritas, 6 km W of Flor del Rio, track to Nuevo Momon (NW1691), Martinez et al. 24740 (MEXU).
