Distribution & Ecology. Pacific and Caribbean drainage of Mexico from Tamaulipas and Sinaloa southwards, Central America (Pacific drainage), Panama, Colombia and Venezuela and in western Cuba, Curacao, Trinidad and Tobago. Mostly in tropical deciduous forest and often in swampy places and periodically flooded land.
