Abbreviated Description. Indumentum of simple appressed hairs, leaflets heteromorphic, 5–7(–12) with 2–4 pairs of greatly reduced leaflets clasping the base of the petiole, alternate to opposite, 11 × 5–22 × 8.5 cm, usually oblanceolate or oblong, inflorescence 7–25(–50) cm long, a sparsely to profusely-branched panicle, petals 4–5, 3.5–4.5(–5) mm long, free or less frequently fused for 1/2–3/4 their length, valvate, erect or reflexing, filaments completely fused into an urceolate or shortly cylindrical staminal tube, anthers (7–)8(–10), nectary absent, ovary puberulous, 3-locular, locules with 2 collateral ovules, capsule 2–3.5 cm long, 1.2–2 cm broad, ovoid or ellipsoid, seeds 1–2(–4), arillode apical and adaxial only, leaving abaxial face of seed exposed.
