Nothris acromelas Turner, 1919 View in CoL , Proc. R. Soc. Qd 31: 164. Holotype ♂, AUSTRALIA: New South Wales, Murwillumbah , ix. (Turner) (ANIC, Canberra) [examined].

Xerometra acromelas (Turner) ; Meyrick 1925: 171; Edwards 1996: 108.

Genitalia ♂. Not examined.

Genitalia ♀. Not examined.

Remarks. N. acromelas was placed in the Australian checklist in the genus Xerometra , a synonym of Mesophleps ( Edwards 1996: 108) ; it is here transferred to Pycnobathra Lower, 1901 . The genus Pycnobathra was placed by Meyrick (1925: 33) as a junior synonym of Megacraspedus Zeller, 1839 ( Gelechiinae , Apatetrini ) and remained there in the Australian checklist ( Edwards 1996: 113); however, Pycnobathra (gen. rev.) is a valid genus and a member of a group of nine closely related genera (here referred to as Pycnobathra -group after its oldest genus): Leptogeneia Meyrick, 1904 , Pachygeneia Meyrick,1923 , Palintropa Meyrick,1913 , Pelocnistis Meyrick, 1932 , Photodotis Meyrick, 1911 , Pycnobathra Lower, 1901 , Streniastis Meyrick, 1904 , Symbolistis Meyrick, 1904 , and Toxotacma Meyrick, 1929 . The subfamily and tribal position of this group within Gelechiidae remains uncertain; the validity of the included genera needs to be reassessed.

Biology. Host-plant unknown.

Distribution. Australia (New South Wales).
