Distribution in Iran: Alborz ( Ebrahimi 1993), Bushehr, Ilam (Ebrahimi 2014), Sistan-o Baluchestan (de Beaumont 1970; Ebrahimi 2014).

General distribution: Afghanistan, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.

Remarks: This species was first recorded as Sphex macula by de Beaumont (1970). The subspecies Prionyx macula lugens (Kohl, 1889) has been recorded from Iran ( Gussakovskij 1933).
