Japanagallia palmata sp. nov.

Pale brown, with chocolate brown markings ( Figs 4 C, 17A). Forewing pale brown, veins paler on outer side, some cells of corium and clavus dark brown. Legs pale brown with small dark brown patches.

Male genitalia: Pygofer with convex dorsal margin, broadly rounded caudally, with mesal spine on caudodorsal margin, ventral margin concave. Connective broad at base, broader than long, distal margin almost truncate. Aedeagus with well developed elongate dorsal apodeme, with short process on dorsal margin, and pair of long blade-like processes distally, each process curved first dorsally then caudally, exceeding pygofer, with their distal region slightly expanded and branched into three digitate processes; shaft short, with small curved spine on ventral margin, a few spicules on lateral margin, gonopore large, apical; preatrium, stocky, with caudally directed lobe terminating into small conical process.

Measurements. Male 4.3 mm long, 1.4 mm wide across eyes.

Material examined. Holotype 3, Yunnan, Kunming, Wenquan, 23.iii.1982, Wang Sumei and Zhou Jingruo, HO068786 ( NWAU).

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Etymology. The species name alludes to the palmlike apex of the aedeagal processes.

Remarks. Among the species of Japanagallia known, this species and J. maculata are paler. This species is unique in having long processes of the dorsal apodeme that exceed caudal margin of pygofer.
