At 10 mm in length, M. dentatus View in CoL is one of the largest Neotropical platypodines, and it is fairly common in collections. I have now received excellent photographs of the Dalman holotype of M. dentatus (NHRS) View in CoL , which I have compared with type material of P. subsulcatus View in CoL (male Chapuis syntypes: MNHN, IRSNB), and with specimens which I had previously compared carefully with the male Blandford type of P. fortis (NHMUK) View in CoL and the male Schedl type of P. ursus (NHMW) View in CoL . These are all conspecific.
