Remarks. A German scientist introduced fingerlings of this species to Lake Al-Assad (Euphrates River) in 1977. This entry was not the right choice for two reasons: first, it was carnivorous, and second, the local environment was unsuitable for acclimatisation of the species. Indeed, it failed to propagate and vanished from Lake Al-Assad, where juveniles of this species had previously been discovered.
