Diagnosis. Forewing length is 14–15 mm in females. This is an unmistakable species, which is characterized by the broad forewings, orange fore- and hindwing ground color and monotonous blackish brown submarginal and marginal areas of both wings, which are striped in all other relatives. The female genitalia are similar to those of B. maculifasciata and B. parameia , but differ from B. maculifasciata by the slightly shorter and more rounded lateral lobes of the antrum and larger signum; in comparison to B. parameia , the female genitalia of B. salamandra have broader and more rounded lateral lobes of their antrum, larger signum and larger appendix bursae.

Male is unknown.

Distribution. West and North Thailand (Kanchanaburi and Chiang Rai).
