– Type: summit of Craggy Peak near Zwellendam, Burchell 7342 inherb. Kew ( K-75874 !, holo).

Placement of this species in Thamnea is based on morphological data as anther morphology, flower arrangement, absence of pedicels, and absence of cuticular rim; it was not included in the DNA analysis.
