– Type: Ceres Dist., Gideon’s Kop , S. Cederberg , Sandfontein area , 4500–5000 ft, 25 Oct. 1966, Esterhuysen 31628 ( BOL- 122328 !, holo).

Placement of this species in Brunia subg. Mniothamnea is based on morphological data as anther morphology, 5- to 10-colporate pollen grains, stamens included, petal morphology, appressed to partly imbricate leaves, and small inflorescence size; the species was not included in the DNA analysis.
