Head narrower than pronotum, anterior margin broadly rounded; crown broad, greater than width of eyes, produced about ¼ entire median length, lateral margins parallel, foveate medially; pronotum slightly longer than median length of crown, surface bullated; mesonotum large, about twice as long as median length of pronotum; forewing long, narrow, 3 anteapical cells present, outer one closed; clypeus long, broad, lateral margins broadly convex, median longitudinal carina very evident; clypellus about 1/3 as long as clypeus, broad, inflated basomedially.

Male genitalia. Pygofer in lateral view large, subquadrate in outline, caudoventral process short, large, lobate, recessed behind pygofer wall ( Fig. 133 View FIGURES 133–140 ); right subgenital plate very long, narrow, broadly convex, setaceous apically ( Fig. 134 View FIGURES 133–140 ); style nearly as long as aedeagus, narrow, prominent, angulate lobe medially in lateral view, narrowed and pointed in distal ¼ ( Figs. 135, 136 View FIGURES 133–140 ); aedeagus long, in ventral view, tubular in basal 3/5, subrectangulate in apical 2/5, in lateral view tubular in basal 4/5, lobate in distal 1/5, numerous short to long setae in basal half, long subapical spine armed with distal spines in lateral view ( Figs. 137, 138 View FIGURES 133–140 ); connective broadly Y-shaped, median rib and membrane absent, stem short, apex globular ( Fig. 139 View FIGURES 133–140 ); dorsal connective long, strap-shaped ( Fig. 140 View FIGURES 133–140 ).

Material examined. Holotype male. ECUADOR: Provincia de Francisco de Orellana, Yasuni National Park , 500º40.478’W–076º23.866‘, 27 IV 2005, C. R. Bartlett, N. Nazdrowicz, D. Chang, ex. Sweeping / Day ( NMNH).

Etymology. The species name is geographical for the country of Ecuador.

Remarks. The species is related to S. semiovata and can be distinguished by the subrectangulate aedeagus in distal 1/3 ( Fig. 138 View FIGURES 133–140 ) and the convex subgenital plate ( Fig. 134 View FIGURES 133–140 ).
