Diathoneura bomplandi Malloch, 1934 : p. 438, plate VIII, fig. 3 (wing). Type-locality: ARGENTINA, Bompland. Holotype 1♀ (BMNH); paratype 1♀ (BMNH).

Clastopteromyia bomplandi Frota-Pessoa, 1947 : p. 198 (new combination), figs 9–10 (left wing and oviscapt). Cladochaeta bomplandi: Vilela & Bächli, 1990 : p. 8 (new combination), figs 5 A–B (female terminalia); Grimaldi & Nguyen, 1999: p. 269 (first described male), figs 3, 153, 154, 158; 1♂; 4♀ (AMNH).

Material examined. 1 Ƌ (left wing slide mounted; terminalia in vial): BRAZIL, State of Minas Gerais, Cabo Verde, Fazenda da Cata— 593m, 21º27’8.46”S 46º20’52.8”W, 14.vii.2011 – 04.i.2012, Malaise barranco, Amorim, D. S. & Oliveira, S. S. cols. ( MZUSP).

Comments. This species was previously known from the type locality, in northeastern Argentina, and from specimens collected by Fritz Plaumann in the State of Santa Catarina, southern Brazil. We add here a new record of the species for the southern part of the State of Minas Gerais, with quite higher altitude, a locality that shares a number of elements of the Santa Catarina fauna. The original description and the redescriptions made by Vilela & Bächli (1990) and Grimaldi & Nguyen (1999) are very complete and well illustrated. We include here photos of the second male ever reported, including the amazing male terminalia of the species.
