Kuzinellus reticulatus Moraes, Zannou & Oliveira View in CoL , n. sp.

( Fig. 16 View FIGURE 16 )

Diagnosis. This species is characterized by having all idiosomal setae setiform, setae Z4 and Z5 serrate; seta Z4 ca. 0.6 times as long as the distance between its base and the base of Z5 and about as long as the distance between its base and the base of S5; ventrianal shield reticulate, with 4 pairs of preanal setae; calyx of spematheca tubular, slender, flaring near vesicle, ca. 10 times as long as width at its mid-length; atrium larger than the portion of calyx next to it.

FEMALE. (2 specimens measured).

Dorsum. Dorsal shield 288(282–293) long and 166(165–166) wide, reticulate. Setae j1 19, j3 21(20–22) j4 16(16–17), j5 17, j6 20, J2 24(24–25), J5 10(10–11), z2 19(19–20), z3 19(19–20), z4 21(20–21), z5 18(17– 20), z6 19(19–20), Z4 26(25–28), Z5 40(39–42), s4 22 (22–23), s6 24 (24–25), S2 27 (27–28), S4 26, S5 21 (21–22), r3 18(15–20), R1 20(20–21). Setae setiform, smooth, sharp-tipped, except Z4, very lightly serrate, and Z5, serrate; seta R1 inserted on membrane.

Peritreme. Extending to level of j1.

Venter. Sternal shield smooth, with 2 pairs of setae (ST3 inserted on membrane); posterior margin concave and with 2 sublateral teeth; with a trapezoidal lightly scletorized shield between setae ST3; distances between ST1-ST3 62(61–64), ST2-ST2 52(51–53). Genital shield smooth; distance between ST5-ST5 59(58– 60). Ventrianal shield reticulate, pentagonal, slightly constricted laterally, anterior margin slightly convex, 104(103–105) long, 79(77–81) wide at level of ZV2, 68(68–69) wide at level of anus; setae JV2 and JV3 present; round preanal pores posterior to and almost in longitudinal line with JV2. Caudoventral setae smooth and sharp-tipped.

Chelicera. Movable digit 23 long, with 2 teeth; fixed digit 23 long, with 3 teeth and a pilus dentilis.

Spermatheca. Calyx tubular, flaring near atrium, 14 long; atrium nodular, wider than portion of calyx next to it.

Legs. Sharp-tipped macroseta: St IV 31 (30–31). Chaetotaxy: genu II: 2-2/0, 2/0- 1; genu III: 1-2/1, 2/0-1.

MALE. Unknown.

Locality and type material. Holotype female from Eragrostis arenicola , 21 km N Mporokoso, Zambia, 15-VI-1992, A. Onzo, deposited at ESALQ-USP. One paratype female from Chromolaena odorata , 1 km E Songololo, Bas-Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, 11-VII-1991, A. Onzo, deposited at IITAIM.

Etymology. The epithet reticulatus refers to the reticulate pattern of the ventrianal shield of the female of this species.

Remarks. Kuzinellus relentus ( Denmark & Matthysse) differs from this new species by having setae Z4 and Z5 serrate; Z4 ca. 0.7 times as long as the distance between its base and the base of S5; ventrianal shield mostly smooth, with light lateral reticulation around and posteriorly to anus, calyx of spermatheca bulged near atrium. Kuzinellus andreae also differs from the new species by having seta Z4 slightly longer than the distance between its base and the base of Z5 as well as by having ventrianal shield with 3 pairs of preanal setae (JV3 absent).
