COMMENTS: In the original description, Cracraft gave the AMNH number of the holotype and included in his type series five specimens collected by Diamond at Awande and one from the Kratke Range. Described as a phylogenetic species by Cracraft, P. diamondi  was included as a subspecies of Manucodia keraudrenii  by Frith and Beehler (1998: 232–233) and Frith and Frith (2009: 464) and as a subspecies of Phonygammus keraudrenii  by Dickinson (2003: 526).
